Friday  20th March 2020 – Letter received from Sheffield City Council

Letter from SCC to Parents Carers 20.0320

Exciting news

We have been selected to receive funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund. It means that we will get a contribution towards laying artificial grass in part of our garden so that the children can play outside regardless of the effects of the weather.

But we need your help as its expensive. The more support we get, the more funding we could receive. So if you’re a Co-op Member log in to your Co-op Membership account and choose us. If you’re not a member, please join and support us!

Please follow the link below to sign up and also see how we are doing.

Every time a member buys Co-op branded products and services and uses their Co-op Membership card (subject to Membership T&Cs) 1% of what they spend will go to their chosen cause which could be us!
The giving period ends on 24 October 2020. Please encourage friends and family to support us.

Welcome to SVPS

We welcome children from 2 years old to school age. We will give your child the opportunity to make friends, play and learn in a safe and stimulating environment, supported by highly trained well qualified staff.

We provide an environment which ensures that each child has the chance to develop the skills that support their growing independence and maturity, and when they are ready we have an excellent transition into local schools, which helps ease the move to formal education.

We have been a well established and respected part of the local community for over 20 years. We were rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in our last inspection (May 2018).

There are Funded places for 3 and 4 year olds and for qualifying 2 year olds, get in touch for details.

  • 30 hours extended free educational funding for qualifying children. (See Places for more information).
  • Breakfast club from 8am & late finish to 4pm.

New committee members wanted – Could you spare a few hours?

We are looking for new members to assist with the running of the committee.
We meet once a half term, currently on a Wednesday evening for a couple of hours.
No experience is needed just an ability to get on with people and an ability to muck in and get on.
It is a great opportunity to use existing business, employment or management skills or to develop completely new skills for a future CV, plus you make an appreciable difference to a vibrant local provision. This is a volunteer role and is unpaid.

If you would like more information please take a look at the Committee page or would just like to talk to someone about the role, please contact Anne Fellows on 01142349970 or email at SVPS@mail.com.

We are aware that coronavirus continues to be in the news and that you may be worried about your children attending pre-school. Please read the document below to find out what we can do together to keep each other safe.

Bad Weather
In the event of bad weather please check Facebook that pre-school is open. We will post the situation as early as possible once we have been able to make the decision.
Please phone pre-school on 01142349970 to check if staff have arrived and that we are open before you leave home if the snow has been particularly heavy.

Places for September 2020
We will soon be booking places for September. Please get in touch to arrange a visit or send us a completed booking form and we will get back to you.  (The booking form can be downloaded from our information page).

OFSTED – May 2018 – Good grading.

They say that our children;
– Are confident learners who have developed key skills that prepare them well for school
– Early literacy skills and mathematical development are included at every opportunity to immerse children in an environment full of letters, numbers and shapes
– Staff support children’s personal, social and emotional development extremely well. They are good role models and consistently use positive strategies, such as talking about teamwork and sharing. As a result, children behave extremely well
The full report is now on line if you would like to read the full version.

Each half term we support childrens learning with a carefully chosen topic. A breakdown of each half terms planning and the topic can be found on the red notice board.

We will continue to include children’s own interests in our day and would ask that they continue to bring in their favourite things for show and tell. Show and tell encourages children to stand and speak in front of their friends and is a great way to develop self-confidence.
